Willow Brook Restaurant: Comfort food and ice cream in a Colonial setting

The bend in Route 16 near Mendon’s downtown area has been synonymous with ice cream for more than 100 years, and today Willow Brook Restaurant keeps up that tasty tradition with 37 flavors of ice cream and some incredible special sundaes. With seating outdoors in warm weather and inside the rest of the year, Willow Brook is the place to come when you want an ice cream fix.

Oxfords Casual Dining

OXFORD – On a recent rainy Friday night, the lounge at Oxfords Casual Dining was a welcoming place. The bar was mostly full, but there was enough space for us to sit and order a drink while waiting for a table. While the lounge is dimly lit, the bottles and glasses and brushed copper bar just sparkled. The beers on tap were Wachusetts Blueberry and Blue Moon Belgian. The featured drinks included mudslides and mango mai tais.  Oxfords has a good wine selection as well, and will package up unfinished bottles to take home.

Fins & Tales

by a Yankee diner

There are two stories here: the restoration of the historic Delahanty Building, and the genesis of Fins and Tales, a wonderful upscale restaurant specializing in seafood. You can't help but be impressed with both.

Located at 858 Main Street in Southbridge, the brick building is in the Gothic Victorian style and dates from 1878. It served first as the Alden dry goods business and then as the Delahanty furniture store. The first floor with its large windows was the showroom for furniture and bedding.
