Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 10 until 12 pm at the Whitin Community Center
This FREE outreach event is open to all Northbridge and Uxbridge area families. Beginning Bridges and the Blackstone Valley Children’s Place partner to provide this fun, interactive and cost-free event for families with young children- nothing can be sold. A major objective of the Fair is to promote healthy lifestyles as well as provide access to information and community resources. In 2017 we will continue the theme of “Passport to Healthy Communities” and provide children with a “passport” to encourage engagement with service providers and activities. Participants will receive passport stamps from the exhibitors they visit or at the different activities they participate in. Upon receiving a minimum number of stamps, children can enter their passport into a drawing to win a door prize of various bicycles.
In addition to providing information and resources, we plan to get families moving! We will be offering a StoryWalk TM at the Community Center. The EcoTarium will be in attendance with their “Imagination Playground” – which consists of large foam geometric shapes for children to build with – also it requires motor planning for the children to move their bodies around their designs without knocking them down. The Whitin Community Center will host their “Eggstravanza” Egg Hunt in the park adjacent to the Center.
Beginning Bridges is funded through the MA Department of Early Education and Care. South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) is Beginning Bridges lead agent. This program is sponsored in part by funding from CHNA-6 and grants from the Northbridge and Uxbridge Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
