The Charlton Residential Energy Assistance for Seniors (REAS) will hold its annual Taste of the Towns to be held on Saturday January 27, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church Hall, 10 H Putnam Rd Ext. Charlton, MA.
Some 400 guests will sample delicious food and beverages from local restaurants and vendors participating in this annual community event. Thanks to local sponsors, donors and businesses, the evening will also include a cash bar, silent auction, raffle items, door prizes and a money tree.
Tickets are $15 per person and available at the Charlton Senior Center, Cornerstone Bank in Charlton and will be sold at the door.
The Charlton REAS Foundation, Inc. is a local 501c3 non-profit organization established by volunteers who care about the health and well-being of the senior population. Many senior citizens are on fixed incomes and with the fluctuating costs of heating oil, prescription medications, health insurance, food, and daily necessities choices can become very difficult. Proceeds from this event will supply qualifying senior citizens of Charlton with energy assistance.
Thanks to contributions in 2017 the Charlton REAS Foundation awarded 33 seniors with assistance for a total of $14,700. This fundraiser along with the lottery calendar is the REAS Foundation’s most important event. The assistance is reliant upon proceeds from this event, monetary donations, in-kind donations and volunteer time.
The Taste of the Towns event provides also for a fun, inexpensive night out while helping neighbors.
