The Douglas Cultural Council is currently accepting grant proposals from Massachusetts musicians, artists, and performers. Organizations, schools, and individuals are urged to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community. The deadline for grant applications is Monday, October 15. This year, all applications must be completed online, through the Massachusetts Cultural Council website.
These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Douglas -- including concerts, field trips / performances in schools, art workshops, and lectures. This year, the council is particularly interested in viewing applications from musicians or performance artists, due to the results of a public interest survey they recently held.
The Douglas Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
Previously funded projects include: a Summer Concert Series at the Douglas Farm and Orchard, programs for children at the Simon Fairfield Library, and musical entertainment at the Douglas Senior Center.
