Residents at the Town Meeting on May 7 will be presented with two budgets: a base budget, balanced to reflect anticipated FY19 revenue as mandated by law; a second budget that includes a proposed override of $1.5M that will restore certain town services, school programs, and keep the library open. If the override passes at Town Meeting, it will be also have to be approved by ballot at the election on May 8.
We asked the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee a series questions about the override. We also asked town citizens to write to us on the subject. Answers to the questions and a series of letters have been published in the April 13 issue of the Blackstone Valley Xpress, which has been mailed to all households in Douglas.
