PinkHippy.Org is sponsoring two speakers on Saturday, February 22nd at 10:00 AM. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Northbridge Public Library, 17 Church Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588.
Megan Belanger, a certified lymphedema and oncology massage therapist, will be speaking about the signs and symptoms of lymphedema, treatment options, and how you can reduce your risk factors. She will also provide information on the benefits of massage for all phases of the journey, including helping to reduce anxiety and depression, ease pain, control nausea, reduce fatigue, and improve sleep. Megan is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, providing Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and compression bandaging and is a member of the Society for Oncology Massage. She maintains a private practice at the Healing and Wellness Center in Westborough MA.
Del Bachand, a certified yoga instructor and breast cancer survivor, will be speaking about how yoga can help to increase range of motion after surgery or treatment, soothe neuropathies, and bring a sense of calmness and serenity amid the chaos before, during, and after treatment. She will be discussing different forms of yoga including Restorative Yoga and Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery & Beyond. Information will also be provided on free restorative yoga classes offered through PinkHippy.org.
Lectures will be followed by an opportunity to connect one-on-one with members of the PinkHippy.org Bosom Buddy Network. Healthy snacks and refreshments will be served.
