The Gladys E. Kelly Public Library may be currently closed to the public, but we are still offering many contact-free services to the public! The library is now offering curbside pickup. Patrons can call the library at (508) 949-3880 or email us at [email protected] to set up a time between 12:00pm and 4:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and we can bring your items out to you. Items available for pickup include books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and museum passes. We are also offering children’s paper craft kits that can be picked up during the curbside pickup times listed above. This month’s craft is a bunny peeking out of a flower pot, and, like our usual monthly children’s room crafts, it consists of pre-cut paper pieces that can easily be glued together. Kits come with paper pieces, instructions, and a glue stick! Additionally, we are offering children’s mystery book bags. Tell us your child’s three favorite things or interests and we will curate a bag full of 5-10 mystery books for them to enjoy.
All current patrons may also use the Overdrive/Libby website and app and the Hoopla app to access digital material online. Digital material through Libby may be put on hold or checked out with your library card, just like regular items. Material from Hoopla can be downloaded instantly!
We are currently waiving all late fees due to the library’s temporary closure. However, our book drop remains open. All material that has been returned to the library book drop is set aside for three days and cleaned with disinfectant wipes before being checked in and put away. Staff are equipped with masks and gloves to prevent any potential spread of COVID-19.
In other news, on June 4th, a Library Trustee meeting was held over Zoom. The Director, Amanda Grenier, shared with the Trustees the ongoing planned re-opening of the library. The library will most likely reopen during “Phase 3” of Governor Baker’s re-opening plan starting July 31st. The library will open to a limited number of patrons and every other computer terminal will be available for use. The computer terminals will be cleaned between every session. The Children’s Room will be available for browsing and for checkout, but all toys have currently been cleaned and placed in storage and will not be available to the public unti
