Ten Tons New Goal for Lions
Having reached the five ton goal set earlier this year in May, the Uxbridge Lions Club has set its new goal at ten tons. On Saturday,November 7, the Lions will hold its Shred It event from 9 am to 12 noon at the VFW parking lot on Route 16 W in Uxbridge. Shredding those old documents that you want safely disposed of can be a nuisance. At the shredding event, a copy paper sized box can be disposed of for a donation of $5.00 and the owner can be confident it has been shredded on the spot and can even watch. The fundraiser serves a threefold purpose: disposing of paper materials safely and conveniently while recycling and preserving the environment, and supporting Lions charities.
The Uxbridge Lions Club, founded in 2009, has been growing steadily and has been newly chartered in 2015. It is part of Lions Clubs International, founded in 1917, which now boasts 1.4 million members in 200 countries worldwide. The “We Serve” motto is supported by more volunteers in more places than any other service club in the world. The Uxbridge club meets at 7 pm on the third Wednesday of each month at the Uxbridge Senior Center, 36 S. Main Street. Interested persons are invited to attend a meeting or contact Catherine Thornton at [email protected] or 508-340-6152. Check out Uxbridge Lions Club on Facebook and Twitter.
