The Uxbridge Senior Center in collaboration with Tri-Valley Inc. is hosting a ‘Dementia Friends’ Information Session on October 17th from 1:30pm-2:30pm at the Uxbridge Senior Center located at 36 South Main Street. This informational session is free of charge and open to all who would like to learn about dementia and help people who are living with it in our community.
Approximately 130,000 people in Massachusetts age 65+ are living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way we think, talk and act about the disease. The Dementia Friends session helps you learn about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the program to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
Dementia Friends Champions, Lisa Bernard, Director of the Uxbridge Senior Center and Emily Harney, Enrollment Benefits Specialist from Tri-Valley, Inc. will be delivering this one-hour session to participants. Anyone interested in attending the Dementia Friends Session should contact the Uxbridge Senior Center at (508) 278-8622 to RSVP.
