It’s a-maizing at West End Creamery

Corn mazes bring a little bit of intrigue as well as fun to fall activities. At West End Creamery in Whitinsville, the 6-acre corn maze is the centerpiece of the family farm’s  weekend Fall Festivals.

This year the maze will honor first responders: police, fire, and emergency services.  Police, fire, and EMS logos are cut into the corn, along with a big “thank you.”

Winding through the maze can be a quick walk or a casual stroll, says Owen Cooper, who’s in charge of marketing for West End Creamery, and there will be staff in the maze to help visitors navigate.

For those looking for a challenge, Owen says he has arranged a scavenger hunt in the maze, with items such as an old style firebox, handcuffs, first aid kit, and fireman’s boots.  Visitors can submit a completed card, and there will be a drawing for $50 at the end of the season.

The Fall Festival includes a host of activities for kids: corn crib, pumpkin picking, barnyard jump, duck races, cow train, pedal carts, tractor tire mountain, and bunnyville.

New this year is a tug-of-war setup and “Who’s your pumpkin?” There are also some new animals in the barnyard, said Owen.

The complete schedule of events and activities and prices are online at The farm is at 481 Purgatory Road in Whitinsville, just off Exit 6 of Route 146. Open Fridays from 3-6 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sundays noon - 6 p.m.  Last day of the season will be October 25.
