On Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 2 PM-4 PM, authors Stacy Juba and Amanda Torrey will offer their popular panel of “Journey into an Author’s Imagination.” It’s a free panel useful to readers and writers alike.
If you've ever wondered how authors come up with their characters, settings or plot-lines, or are an aspiring writer yourself, then Journey into the Author's Mind will answer those questions and more. Local authors Stacy Juba and Amanda Torrey will lead a lively interactive discussion on how ideas are born, creating believable characters, the writing and editing process, how they approach writing in varied genres such as mystery, romance, paranormal and chick lit, and writing for an adult audience vs. writing for teens.
Stacy Juba loves to write stories about Characters at a Crossroads: individuals who are finding themselves and getting on the right life path after overcoming obstacles. She has made numerous bestseller lists including GalleyCat’s Mystery and Thriller Bestsellers. Stacy has written about reality TV contestants targeted by a killer, an obit writer investigating a cold case, teen psychics who control minds, twin high school hockey stars battling on the ice, and teddy bears learning to raise the U.S. flag. Stacy also offers a beta reading/editing service for writers. Browse her website www.stacyjuba.com for more information.
Amanda Torrey is an author of the Healing Springs and Teen Fury YA series. Her first work of fiction was published by a NY publisher when she was in seventh grade, as part of the "Young Authors of America" contest. The story was titled, "They Called it Dare Mountain." She got "the call" from NY while she was in math class in 7th grade (and when she got called to the office for the phone call, she thought she was in trouble for her overdue library books...) When she got her author copies in the mail, she knew the joy of being a published author. She didn't mind getting the fan mail from students across the country, either!
