Trottier Charity Breakfast

Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 8:00am to 11:00am

2nd Annual Event to Benefit Down Syndrome

Whitinsville, MA – March 1, 2014 – The Trottier Family will host their 2nd annual breakfast fund raiser. Donations will support two groups which help children and adults with Down Syndrome in the Blackstone Valley. All funds raised will be split between The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) and UMass Medical Center Down Syndrome Program, a new effort to assist families with children or adults with Down Syndrome.

In recent years, our society has made great strides in helping children and adults with developmental disabilities to truly become part of our community. Events like the Trottier Charity Breakfast help to raise awareness and vital funds for programs and initiatives. Many are becoming productive citizens helping to support themselves and live independently. None of this would be possible without the caring and committed leaders like Senator Richard T. Moore and the MDSC's Executive Director Maureen Gallagher.

The Trottier’s know first hand how beneficial these programs and services are. Their son, Colin, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome 10 days after birth. Trottier says, “My wife and I were saddened and disappointed at first. However, that initial concern soon turned to joy when we realized we could and needed to be our son’s biggest advocates. We realize now we can make a difference in this community.” Organizations like the MDSC advocate for and provide vital resources and information for families of children and adults with Down syndrome.

Russell says, “Admission is free, and we welcome donations of any amount. A group of dedicated people will be serving breakfast and selling raffles tickets. The Mumford Council #365 Knights of Columbus of Whitinsville has generously donated the hall. In order to put on this event, we are seeking donated food and raffle items, however modest the amount. Your generosity will go a long way in helping our families and friends with developmental disabilities to be active members of the Blackstone Valley community.”
