WDBA Annual Meeting

Thursday, October 12, 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

WDBA Annual Meeting topic: Main Street’s empty storefronts

The Webster Dudley Business Association will hold its Annual Meeting and Elections on Thursday, October 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Point Breeze Restaurant in Webster.

The program topic is Main Street. Main Street has too many vacant storefronts. Where did the restaurants, local shops and bakeries go? Are solar farms and marijuana distributors suitable replacements? Residents complain about the lack of businesses to meet their needs, but will they support local entrepreneurs?

This Workshop explores innovative approaches that make small businesses successful ventures for entrepreneurs through positive customer support. The program is designed for small and home-based business owners as well as those who desire to start their own business. It will also offer new and successful practices for area town officials desiring to grow small business in their communities.

The presenter is Jim Metcalf, a SCORE mentor for 12 years with all sizes and types of businesses. His focus has been small-town home and rural businesses, and their importance in building the small town’s business revenue base. Mr. Metcalf’s career has been as a business unit manager and business master black belt for a Swiss multinational. His education includes advanced degrees in business and service management.

Cost is $10 per person, which includes a dinner choice of chicken, fish, or vegetarian.
