Douglas Scarecrow Contest Announced

There’s going to be more fall fun in Douglas this year with the start of a new October tradition.  The Douglas Common Preservation Society, Inc. is excited to announce the First Annual Douglas Scarecrow Contest and hopes the community comes out to participate by entering their original handcrafted scarecrows.  This is a perfect project for families, individuals, groups, organizations and businesses to show off their creativity by entering scarecrows into the contest.  For more information, guidelines and entry form, email the Douglas Common Preservation Society at [email protected] – entry deadline is October 6.  Flyers with entry forms will also be available at some local businesses.  The Douglas Common Facebook Group Page can also be visited to view the flyer.
This free event, sponsored by The Slovak Catholic Sokol, will be a fun way to celebrate the season. Participants will put their scarecrows on display at the Douglas Common on Saturday, October 12,  where they will remain on display through October 31 to be enjoyed by the entire community.
Scarecrows will be judged on October 26 for Most Creative, Funniest and Scariest, and the lucky winner of each category will be awarded a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
Don’t forget to enter by the October 6 deadline to be part of this new Douglas tradition.  The more entries, the merrier.
