Holiday Lighting on the Common
The fun will continue at the Douglas Common in November as the Fall decorations are replaced with holiday lights and decorations. The Douglas Common Preservation Society, Inc. is planning a Holiday Lighting Celebration at the Common on Saturday, November 30, from 6 - 7 p.m. This free event will feature caroling performed by The Very Merry Dickens Carolers, photo opportunities with Santa or the reindeer, and refreshments. And, of course, the lights and decorations will be fantastic and sure to put you in the holiday mood.
The Common has not had a lighting celebration for many years, and the Society is
excited to be able to respond to your requests and bring back this popular event for the community’s enjoyment. This festive event is made possible thanks to generous donations from our major sponsors, UniBank and Bright Factor, in addition to a grant awarded to the Society from the Mass Cultural Council. This
year the reindeer “herd” will be enlarged thanks to the handiwork and generosity of the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, increasing the
decorative appeal of the Common and offering more opportunities for family photos. The Society hopes you mark your calendars and come join us for this hour-long holiday celebration.
The Common will also be a stop on the Annual Winter Stroll scheduled for December 14. As you stroll through Douglas, stop in at the Common for hot chocolate and caroling hosted by the Sunshine Club from 5 - 6:30 pm -- and use this opportunity to take some beautiful family photos.

Beautifying, maintaining and decorating the Common is the year-round work of volunteers who make up the Douglas Common Preservation Society. The Society relies on the support of many members of the community, both businesses and individuals, to make this possible. All sponsors who donate between July and Thanksgiving will be recognized on a second Recognition Banner placed at the Common during the months of December and January. Your tax-deductible donations should be mailed to Douglas Common Preservation Society, Inc., 76 NW Main St., Douglas, MA 01516 if you would like to support this worthwhile cause. Memorial Donations will also be recognized on the Recognition Banner with a memorial message. All donations are tax-deductible and are used 100% for the Douglas Common. Together we can make our Common a source of pride for our Town and a location where the community can come together to celebrate the seasons.
